The first one is to ease the pain of the patient and the second one is to improve the lost range of motion and bring it back to normal. Relieving the pain is done by medications like anti-inflammatory and pain killers and therapies like cold therapy and electronic modalities like TENS and others. The other aspect of bringing the lost range of motion is achieved by physical therapy. Along with the assisted and active assisted exercises taught to the patient as the home regime, the therapist performs the passive movement. These exercises help in increasing the range of motions, strengthening, and stretching exercises.
